Media (video) files play through Steam using Windows Media Player. If you are unable to view these videos, it may be because Windows Media Player is preventing the files playing correctly. To help with this, follow the steps below:

Windows Media Player 9

Issue: Colors in media files display incorrectly in neon green and red.
Solution: Disable video mixing renderer

1. Open Media Player and go to Tools in the top menu bar and select Options
2. Select Advanced
3. Go to Video Acceleration Settings option
4. Uncheck the Use video mixing renderer
5. Save your settings and exit Windows Media Player 9

Windows Media Player 10

Issue: Colors in media files display incorrectly in neon green and red.
Solution: This issue can be resolved by switching from User overlays to Use high quality mode.

1. Open Media Player and go to Tools in the top menu bar and select Options
2. Select the Performance tab
3. Under the Use video mixing renderer option check the Use high quality mode option
4. Save your settings and exit Windows Media Player 10
