Knowing exactly which scenario/service you are playing can be very useful. For example you search YouTube for gameplay videos uploaded by other players. This can be very useful if you are not sure what to do.

Additionally, when contacting support about a bug or gameplay advice it is important to be specific about what you are playing, so the support agent has all the information they need to help you.

Below we will take a look at the different game modes within Train Sim World 2 and how to identify the scenario/service you are playing.

Accessing different game modes

To access the different game modes available, you will need to select a route from the main menu and then choose Journey or Explore. The modes shown in the image below will be available under the Explore menu option.

If you are unable to access the menus above without automatically loading a journey please see the following article for more information.

How do I access the route menu without loading a Journey?

In-game

When you first load into a scenario/service you will be greeted with pop-up showing key information about what you have chosen to play. The top line shows the Start Time and Service Name, followed by the Locomotive used, total weight, number of cars and length of the train. Below this you can see the Start and Finish locations.

Press Pause during gameplay and navigate to the Schedule tab. On the top line you will see the full name of the scenario/service you are playing. In the image below the Service Name would be "201D-01 Stonebridge Park Depot - Stonebridge Park". If you scroll to the top and look at the time below the second clock icon, this is the service Start Time, which is "5:04:00" in the image below.

Journeys

Main Menu > Route > Continue Journey/Start A New Journey

From the Journey menu you will need to provide the following information:

  • Journey Name
  • Chapter Number
  • Journey Service/Scenario Name

Firstly, you will need to select a Journey. There are three different Journeys available in the image below. For this example we are going to take a look at "Life on the Underground".

Next, you can select a Chapter which will expand the view of that chapter to show the services/scenarios it contains. Each service/scenario will have a short Name such as "Zone One", with no start time.

Training

Main Menu > Route > Explore > Training

Under the Training menu, each training scenario will be given a short name such as "72 Stock Introduction".

Scenarios

Main Menu > Route > Explore > Scenarios

Under the Scenario menu, each scenario will be given a short name such as "Zone One"

Services

Main Menu > Route > Explore > Timetable

There are a lot of variables possible in Timetable mode, so it is important to take note of your selections. All the available options will be listed in the bug report form if you are asked to complete one.

Firstly, you will select a Timetable. Some routes will have multiple timetables to select from, other will only have one. We will select "London Underground Bakerloo Line" in this example.

Next will be able to choose the Month and Weather preset. If you choose the Custom weather preset, you may freely move the weather slider below.

Below the weather options you may choose your Locomotive and swap to a different Livery if there are any available by pressing the button prompt next to the paintbrush icon.

Lastly, we can select a service from the list. The first column on the left will be the Service Name, followed by the Start Time. In the image below the selected service is "200X-01 London Road Depot to Elephant & Castle (Part 1)" and the start time is "04:45".
