If you are having trouble entering text using the onscreen keyboard, then this is the article for you. Typically, has been affecting players who are attempting to enter a name to create a new profile. To resolve the issue, please work through the following recommendations.


Supported Languages

Firstly, we would recommend that you check if your language is supported by the game. This information is typically found on the store page. If your language is not supported, you may need to make changes to your language settings, as covered in the following sections.

System Language

Try changing the system language to one of the supported languages. To change the language setting for your PS4™ system, select (Settings) > [Language] > [System Language].


Input Languages

Next, try adding a supported language to your onscreen keyboard. To set the languages you'll use for text input, select  (Settings) > [Language] > [Input Languages].


Keyboards and User Dictionary

You can select multiple languages (keyboards) for entering text, and switch between them. You can also add frequently used terms in each language.


Setting keyboard languages

  1. Select [Keyboards and User Dictionary], and then select languages.
  2. Select the checkbox for each language that you want to use.


Switching between languages when entering text

  1. Select the switch keyboards icon on the onscreen keyboard (The icon for switching keyboards appears only when you set multiple languages.)
  2. Then, to switch keyboard languages, use either the left button or right button on the controller, and then press the cross button.


Use X (cross) Button for Enter

In some countries, the Circle button will be the default button for "Enter". In some games you will need to default "Enter" button to be Cross, in order to select text entry boxes.


To change the button assignment for the “Enter” operation from the circle button to the cross button, select  (Settings) > [System], and then select the checkbox for [Use cross Button for Enter]. This feature is available only on PS4™ systems sold in certain countries or regions.
