If when you start your game it remains minimised or you see a black screen with sounds playing in the background, you may need to start the game in Safe Mode. This can normally happen after changing a graphical setting such as screen resolution or moving to windowed/fullscreen.
Starting in Safe Mode will reset the game settings to default, allowing you to reach the settings menu and change it back to the last known working configuration.
Starting Train Simulator in Safe Mode
- Open Steam and locate Train Simulator in the library.
- Right-click and go to Properties.
- On the General tab click on Set Launch Options.
- Now enter "-SafeMode" without quotations.
- Restart the game and change your desired resolution and settings.
- You may remove "-SafeMode" once your game launches normally.
